| Character Bio Makoto Kino is a 16 year-old Muggle-Born living in Ireland. She is a very strong and independent young woman, one who has had to look after herself for many years. Her mother had been a renowned herbologist in the wizarding world, and had built herself a small shop on the boarders of the Magical and Muggle community; her father had been no more than a Muggle businessman, one whose work required him to travel around the country at a moments notice. During a stay with her grandparents, Makoto saw her parents leave for the last time as they both headed off to the airport for one of her father’s flights. Deciding to join her husband, Makoto’s mother lost her life along with Makoto’s father when the plane crashed. Inheriting her mother’s shop, Makoto lived in semi-solitude, angry at the Muggle world for taking the lives of her parents. She learned, however, how to live on her own and take care of herself without the help of relatives. Using the upstairs rooms as apartments, Makoto lived peacefully for years, slowly overcoming the grief of her parents’ death. Becoming the happy child she had been, she began to practice her magic, taking care of the many magical plants her mother had let behind and teaching herself how to bake. It was an easy way to take out her frustrations, less she found herself in the middle of a fight. Her temper tended to be rather quick, but she tried her best to keep it in check. Shortly after turning eleven, Makoto received her letter to Hogwarts. Her family had been thrilled at the new, hoping that while away Makoto might finally be able to find herself and to make new friends. In the beginning she felt extremely out of place; she was tall for her age, which at times made her feel awkward, and was prone to physical outburst when her temper overtook her. Though, school wasn’t exactly what one could call Makoto’s strong suit. Procrastination and a lazy attitude towards her classes was something she excelled in, though she managed to get along all right. Herbology was a favorite class, and while she had started off doing terribly at potions, found that it wasn’t too far from cooking and began to improve. It was in sports, though, that Makoto found her chance to shine. It was Hogwarts that helped Makoto grow. Despite having spent so many years living by herself, she was a very friendly person and a fiercely loyal friend. Her temper, though there, went into a good state of remission over the years, and was replaced by her love of the opposite sex. Nearly every young man she saw was handsome and instantly sent her swooning. When she wasn’t obsessing over boys, or doing some sort of physical activity, Makoto was just doing her best to take one day at a time and leave the dark memories of her parents’ death behind her. |
